Data entry clerk jobs are rising in numbers as this is a more recent employee position. Data entry jobs are in high demand in many government entities as well as large corporations. The main reason this is a more recent type of position is because more companies are moving over to digital media and storage. For example, Obama is pumping money into the health system to get medical records digitally recorded to help keep things more accurate and to speed up the process. Clerk data entry jobs fit in this category perfectly as they need people to take existing information and convert it to a digital format.

Job Description- Data entry clerk jobs consist of entering data from different sources into a master database paying special attention to detail. It is imperative that data be entered correctly into the system to maximize efficiency within the company. Badly entered data can result in data corruption and loss. You must be a very detailed oriented person to get hired for a job like this and you must have a high school degree and be able to type at least 60 wpm. Most position are for full time spots but there are some part time data entry clerk jobs available at certain companies with a heavy work load. The types of companies that hire for data entry clerk jobs are medical clinics, hospitals, government agencies, financial companies, and state agencies.

Some companies hire a clerk data entry position to help managers. These clerks make sure that schedules are kept, minutes are recorded, and the days are planned out with correct and accurate information. Instead of just copying existing data, this type of position is mainly in charge of recording day to day activities and keeps accurate and updated numbers for company managers and executives to help them with their daily activities and time management.

Salary - Clerk data entry jobs typically pay from $12-$15 dollars an hour. If you have a full time position you will most likely be able to get full benefits such as health, dental, and retirement options such as a 401K. Many data entry jobs can be temporary however as some agencies, like the IRS, hire for a 9-12 month period. The nice thing about this is that you will have a job for 9-12 months and if you do a good enough job they can usually move you to a different position within the company if the work runs out.
