Job security or should we say security guard jobs are always in demand it seems.  The reason for this is that times are tough and people are doing crazy things everyday to try and survive.  Thefts, burglaries, and break ins have sky rocketed this year as the recession is in full swing.  Retailers and other companies cannot afford things like this to happen as they are trying their hardest to stay alive, so armed security jobs are a necessity to these types of companies.

Director of security jobs are the most sought after type of security job.  The main reason for this is that you manage and oversee a security team.  Depending on what type of platform you work, the hours can range from swing shift to full time day shifts.  Each platform is different for example, Larger companies like having corporate security jobs available to peopl who have either been cops or in the armed services.  Retail security is more open to people who don’t have previous experience but that have flexible work schedules.

JOB REQUIREMENTS – First and foremost you must be ethical and honest.  As the security personell you will have access to all rooms and areas of a company.  Confidentiality and the ability to have the mind set to prevent events from happening must be ever present on your mind.  Technical experience is needed to operate switch boards and camera set ups, as well as new digital recording systems that track video footage.  In security supervisor jobs it may even be your responsibility to set up and install a camera system, so any technical experience that you have will be extremely valuable.  If you are applying for armed security jobs you must hold a gun permit and have a concealed weapons permit to allow you to carry a weapon.  Frequent shooting training will also be given at most armed security jobs and the ability to attend these trainings is very important.

SALARY – The pay absolutely depends on the type of security job you attain.  For example, Mall and retail stores pay $12-$15 dollars an hour while armed security guards get paid $15-$20 dollars an hour.  Research the type of job security you want and the pay you are looking for before applying for security director jobs. 

This job is usually not as dangerous as being a police officer, but the ability to keep your cool and lose your temper is extremely important.  You will deal with all kinds of strange people and will have to kick people off the premises.  It is very important to be able to keep your cool and resist the temptation to lash out or use brute physical force to take care of a situation.
