Director Of Marketing Jobs

Do you love marketing, managing, and seeing projects that you implement go through to the finish line?  If so being a director of marketing should be the type of job you are seeking.  Director of marketing jobs are extremely fun, rewarding, and pay very well.  In this article we will talk about what types of requirements this job entails and we will also go over the pay scale of a director of marketing job.

What exactly does a director of marketing do?  First of all it is their job to make sure that the marketing ideas and campaigns are designed to maximize profit, and really meet the needs and wants of their customer demographic.  As a director you will be in charge of a team of marketers which can consist of up to 8-10 marketing assistants.  It is your job to set up meetings, focus groups, and analyze demographic data to decide what advertising medium will be the best.  Ultimately it is up to you to make the final decisions, meaning that it is your responsibility to throw out the bad ideas from your team and to implement the best ideas that your team comes up with.  You will see the campaign from start to finish, meaning you are in charge of selecting whether it will go on TV, Radio, Or the internet.  Once the campaign has started to run it is up to you to analyze the data coming in to see if the campaign is working or if it is bombing. 

What do employers require of potential candidates trying to land director of marketing jobs?  A bachelors degree in marketing and sales is usually required as well as 3-5 years of marketing experience.  Remember that as a director you are in charge of a team, so you must have experience in a marketing environment as well as having managment skills.  Marketing is sales, no matter how you look at it.  It is one thing to be creative, but can you sell your creation?  A director must have the skill set to choose effective marketing campaigns and carry them out in an efficient manner.

Pay scale is very good for a director of marketing position.  Directors make $20-$30 dollars an hour along with having a full benefits package.  Retirment options such as a 401K come standard as well as consistant yearly raises.  If you do well enough as a director of a small team, you can actually work your way up to being a regional director which manages other team directors.
