What do company secretary jobs entail?

Finding company secretary jobs can be fairly easy if you know what to expect.  What exactly does a company secretary job include as far as responsibilities?  Becoming a company secretary shares many of the same responsibilities that a receptionist has.  These responsibilities include answering the phone, setting up appointments, scheduling appointments for your superior, re-directing calls to the appropriate person, sending mailings, sending e-mails, and anything else your boss asks you to do.

As a company secretary you may have different responsibilities than a receptionist in that there will be many company secretaries for each division.  Depending on the division you work for you may be responsible for setting up and preparing for conference calls, meetings, and may work on presentations for you boss.  A good way to think about what a secretary does is to know that you will be your boss’s right hand person.

Becoming a company secretary is a very rewarding job as you will see how much of a difference you will make.  Your boss will rely on you heavily and will feel like they are missing an arm or leg when you are not there.  Company Secretarial jobs are not jsut limited to women.  Many men get hired as company secretaries to both male and female superiors.  Men do just as well as women in this position and can really change the dynamic of certain office settings.

Company secretary jobs are a salary based type of pay scale.  Most of the time these jobs pay $10-$12 dollars an hour and sometimes offer bonuses or overtime opportunities.  The job is typically for full time hours which are 40 hours a week although there are some part time positions available that normally have you working 25-35 hours per week depending on your superior’s work load.

To get a job as a company secretary it is important that you possess some basic skills.  Most employers like you to have a high school dimploma, basic computer knowledge, Microsoft Office experience, good typing and english grammer skills, a friendly nice phone voice, and an even temperment.  You are the first person a client meets and greets before meeting with your boss so it is very important for you to dress nice and represent the company in a good fashion.  Being well groomed and looking nice is important as you will often leave an initial impression on those that come into the company doors to solicit your companies business.
